Assemblages

The idea for these works came from seeing offset ghost images in ink on lithographic printmaking rollers after transferring the ink to deep etched plates for multiple color viscosity printing.

I called the prototype for this body of work, Holly Roller, a tongue-in-check title to imply the rigid rituals behind many printmaking processes. I simply attached an etching to a paper cylinder and the attached chrome painted wooden handles to create a facsimile print roller. This opened a door to explore print ideas in three dimensions and as small sculpture.

Recently, I am revisiting this idea and am working with balsa wood, 3-D printing and other materials to explore 3-D prints that compliment the House of Cards Suite.
